The Agape Ministry is a Christ-centered counseling group dedicated to support to both our congregation and the broader community amidst life's transitions. Our mission is to exemplify God's love, grace, mercy, and strength through the provision of emotional, social, and spiritual guidance. During times of difficulty, managing stress and depression can be particularly challenging, especially when assisting family members and loved ones. To address these needs, the Ministry conducts workshops, oversees the Caregivers Support Group, facilitates Bereavement Devotionals, disseminates information via Congregational Life inserts, collaborates with the Health and Wellness Ministry and the H.I.V./AIDS Ministry, and offers resources through the Because We Care Food Pantry.
The purpose of this Ministry is to provide emotional and spiritual support, temporary family assistance if necessary, and compassionate care to our ill and homebound members. The Ministry has been instituted to assist and engage with all groups. This Ministry aims to fulfill the will of God by collaborating and utilizing our spiritual gifts within the Church for encouragement and edification, in accordance with 1 Corinthians 12:4-7.
The Caregivers Ministry comprises members who are dedicated to caring for the sick and shut-in members of E.B.C. While our objective is to support these individuals and their families, we are not authorized as a licensed home care agency. Our members are authorized solely to provide spiritual and emotional support. Legally, caregiver members are prohibited from administering any medical or physical assistance to ill or bedridden members, particularly if they are hospitalized. As we are not certified by the State Health Department, we recommend that families consult a caseworker to obtain appropriate medical and home care services to mitigate liability concerns. For further information, please contact a Home Care Agency recognized by the New York State authorities.
